Big Bend National Park, Texas! It's also the most southern (for USA) certified dark sky site. Apparently you can see several planets and most of the southern Cross.  Ah, someday, I will see the milky way in the sky!

I'm prejudiced so I think any travel in China will be super crowded with lots of people really close to you, cutting of lines, and behavior i will misconstrue as rude. I know I have some of these preconceived ideas because I'm ignorant when it comes to Chinese people and their culture. Nevertheless, visiting China is the only way to go to Pandora!  James Cameron got his inspiration for the hanging mountains from the landscapes and topography in the Zhangjiajie National Park.
